Everything that handles your data is open source. Not a gesture: the way we prove our privacy promises.

What's open

All the code that touches your data (recording, transcription, encryption, sync) is public on GitHub.

AGPL v3, in practice

You're free to read, run, and fork Sonabrief. Distribute a modified version and AGPL v3 asks you to share your changes under the same license. Commercial distribution without those obligations needs a separate license.

The Harmony CLA

Contributors sign a Contributor License Agreement (Harmony CLA). It lets us keep offering a commercial license to Enterprise customers alongside the open source one, while your contribution stays open.

Dual licensing

Enterprise customers can choose a commercial license (an alternative to AGPL v3) for modified self-hosted deployments.

How to contribute

Read CONTRIBUTING.md, open an issue, or send a pull request. Everything happens in the open.
