Everything that handles your data is open source. Not a gesture — the way we prove our privacy promises.
What's open
All the code that touches your data — recording, transcription, encryption, sync — is public on GitHub.
AGPL v3, in practice
You're free to read, run, and fork Sonabrief. Distribute a modified version and AGPL v3 asks you to share your changes under the same license. Commercial distribution without those obligations needs a separate license.
The Harmony CLA
Contributors sign a Contributor License Agreement (Harmony CLA). It lets us keep offering a commercial license to Enterprise customers alongside the open source one, while your contribution stays open.
Dual licensing
Enterprise customers can choose a commercial license — an alternative to AGPL v3 — for modified self-hosted deployments.
How to contribute
Read CONTRIBUTING.md, open an issue, or send a pull request. Everything happens in the open.
